Biography

I was introduced to the world of music while in 6th grade. I joined beginner band with the intentions of being a saxophone player. However, the band director at the time felt that I would be a better trumpet player. I spent the first year of band sitting in the last chair, struggling with braces and stage fright. I made a vow to myself that summer to practice everyday and earn principal chair. Sure enough, I did. I went on through grade school achieving honors such as All-State Band and Top ratings during solo contests. After sending out auditions tapes to prospective music programs, I was accepted in the music program at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

During my time at Emory, I was fortunate to learn not only jazz and classical trumpet performance, but also study music technology and composition. I now teach elementary school music in the state of Texas.

  1. I hope teaching music is everything I think it will be. I also started playing music in 6th grade (cello) and have always wanted to become an orchestra director. Right now I'm trying out teaching 3rd grade and will hopefully have an opportunity to pursue music again.
